Code of Conduct: Code Words to Build Your Ethical Culture
Your organization’s code of conduct is the cornerstone of your ethical culture. This course answers questions such as: Why does our company have a Code? Who must comply with it? What happens if the Code is violated? What is my responsibility in terms of reporting misconduct? This course is also designed to serve as a means for Code certification/attestation by employees.
Code of Conduct Overview: Code Words (Expanded)
“Code Words (Expanded)” extends the “Code Words (Basic)” course with Learning Blocks which provide the additional flexibility required to assemble a more robust code overview course that fits your company’s unique needs. Each 3- to 5-minute topic block delivers high-level messaging around a specific code of conduct topic. You can choose individual topic(s) that are relevant to your company, while still covering the basics of why your company has a code and why understanding and complying with the code is critical. Learning Blocks topics include:
- Conflicts of Interest
- Gifts, Gratuities and Entertainment
- Anti-Bribery
- Protecting Company Assets
Anti-bribery: Doing Business Fairly [three (3) courses]
It is critically important for your organization to conduct business honestly and in accordance with the law wherever in the world it operates. These courses deliver clear messaging about what constitutes a bribe and provide an overview of the UK Bribery Act and/or FCPA. The courses help employees understand: what’s meant by the phrase “financial or other advantage;” the complexities associated with the terms “anything of value,” “facilitating payments,” and “government officials;” the due diligence required of third parties doing business on behalf of their company; and the need for transparent and complete financial records.
Courses include:
- Anti-Bribery (FCPA): Doing Business Fairly
- Anti-Bribery (UK Bribery Act and FCPA): Doing Business Fairly
- Anti-Bribery (UK Bribery Act): Doing Business Fairly
Ethics Reporting: Speaking Up About Misconduct
Employees have an obligation to not only do the right thing when it comes to their own behavior, but to speak up when they see or suspect violations of a company’s code of conduct, values or policies. And, with the recent Dodd-Frank and SEC mandates, your internal reporting process is more important than ever. This course reinforces your reporting structure, the importance of your hotline program and what your employees need to know about: the proper channels for reporting financial misconduct, illegal and unethical activity, or other code infractions; their responsibilities in regards to reporting violations; and your confidentiality and non-retaliation policies.
Conflicts of Interest: Making the Right Choices
One of the topics most requested by clients, this module defines what constitutes a conflict of interest and describes the kinds of situations under which one may exist. It emphasizes the importance of avoiding situations that could create – or appear to create – a conflict between an employee’s personal interests and the interests of his or her organization. It also directs employees to disclose any potential conflicts and to seek help if they are ever unsure about what to do.
