Sales Operations Director

JOB TITLE: Sales Operations Director

REPORTS TO: VP of Sales
FLSA STATUS: Full-time; Exempt
SALARY: Commensurate with experience + incentives + benefits

JOB DESCRIPTION

Leadership Responsibilities:  
Strategically lead and manage the newly created Sales Operations Team of 4-8 individuals who execute sales operations. Departmental goals and functions include:
  • Define, build and execute the company’s data strategy
  • Develop and manage key performance metrics to measure all aspects of the selling process
  • Administer the CRM system, including driving enhancements and creating the roadmap
  • Build and run sales reports, including pipeline reporting
  • Optimize sales team adoption of CRM tool through programs and act as the company liaison with the vendor
  • Meet company sales objectives - revenue, products, clients, distribution partner
  • Manage the compensation administration for the sales teams
  • Execute the lead management function responsible for building sales pipeline
  • Manage the execution of demo support for the sales process and marketing function
  • Manage expenses to achieve budget goals and profitability targets
  • Spearhead the development of training materials and knowledge database of best practices, “how to’s”, and other less formal communications to drive knowledge transfer to the sales teams
  • Assist with the scheduling of training curriculum for employees and ensure all new team members are properly trained
  • Develop the proposal function for the company
  • Create and manage a formal custom reference program

Additional Individual Contributor Responsibilities:
  • Direct all operational matters affecting the sales staff
  • Become an expert of The Network’s products and services
  • Develop proactive customer service strategies to keep company messages in front of buyers, ensuring that they are satisfied with their products/services and actively providing feedback
  • Participate in new product development process – idea origination, research, evaluation, forecasts, sales strategy
  • Participate in sales activities as needed to achieve objectives to stay abreast of the marketplace
  • Weekly, monthly and annual sales meeting coordination
  • Recommend selling model policies and procedures

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience building, managing and leading high-performing, metrics-based teams
  • 3-5 years experience as a B to B Sales Manager or Sales Operations Management
  • Experience with B to B web based business models and technologies
  • Results orientated with strong decision making skills and the ability to prioritize multiple objectives and meet aggressive deadlines
  • The ability to understand the impact of operational initiatives from a salesperson’s perspective
  • Ability to organize and evaluate office production and procedures and create processes to manage work flow.
  • Process oriented, but flexible around business needs
  • Must be proficient at analyzing data to make strategic recommendations based on data and trends
  • Proven presentation skills to conduct sales certifications and group training as needed
  • Strong persuasive skills and the ability to work well with other departments and achieve long term process improvements
  • Bachelors Degree
  • CRM experience required (Siebel OnDemand or Salesforce.com preferred)
  • Self-starter, entrepreneurial thinker with ability to execute
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office

    PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

    5 years of Sales or Sales Operations Management experience in a B to B technology company

    • Experience with Siebel CRM OnDemand or Salesforce.com. Administrative experience a plus
    • Experience interfacing with sales, marketing, customer services and executive management
